TCO: How long have you been with us?
J: Since November of 2009.
TCO: What keeps you coming back?
J: I think I keep coming back because of how much fun I have every Friday night. It’s really great to play, perform and practice together as an orchestra. It’s a lot better than just practicing by myself.
TCO: What instrument do you play and how long have you been playing?
J: I can play erhu. I have been playing for about 5 years.
The appointment of Tony K.T. Leung as Composer-in-Residence was announced in the Winter 2010 Ontario edition of notations, the publication produced by the Canadian Music Centre.

To promote Hong Kong trade and tourism, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, along with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, launched an event at Mississauga’s Square One shopping mall on Jan. 23. 2010. A small ensemble from TCO was there to give a mini-concert.

多倫多中樂團首次舉辦的中樂團與鋼琴協奏曲比賽，已於周日（27日）完滿結束，決賽在Euromusic Recital Hall 舉行，經過一輪激烈競爭，四位評判包括彭進秀、Kathryn Tremills、朱賢杰及林德貽，從眾參賽者中選出了冠亞軍。

【明報專訊】多倫多中樂團今年首次舉辦融合中西音樂文化的「中樂團與鋼琴協奏曲比賽」﹐昨日終於圓滿結束﹐冠軍得主將於明年5月在中樂團的周年音樂會上，以其琴技跟中樂團同台演出。
為提高加國青年人對中樂的興趣與認識，讓鋼琴好手有發揮所長及吸收演出經驗的機會，多倫多中樂團今年首辦這項揉合西方鋼琴以及中國傳統音樂的嶄新比賽。
該比賽昨日在萬錦市一個演奏廳進行決賽，參賽者都是以中國「國寶級」鋼琴大師劉詩昆60年代的作品《青年鋼琴協奏曲》作為決賽的曲目。
參賽者經過一輪競爭激烈的比賽後，最後由20歲的楊曉賡贏得冠軍。他將於明年多倫多中樂團的周年音樂會內，跟中樂團同台演出。
作為評判之一的多倫多中樂團音樂總監兼首席指揮彭進秀指出，鋼琴協奏曲通常都是跟交響樂團合作，今次跟中樂合作則是第一次，也是其中樂團首次舉行如此的比賽，相信也是北美洲首次歷史性賽事。
彭進秀表示，這次比賽是名副其實的中西文化交流活動。其中樂團作為多市最具規模的業餘中樂團，一向致力於在本國推動中國傳統音樂的發展。今次的嶄新嘗試，可進一步加強他們對推動中加文化互動的努力和決心。
