The La Salle College Chinese Orchestra was formed in 2001 with the aim to nurture the student’s interest in Chinese music, raise the performance level, and to allow students to experience to sprit of ensemble team work. Under the baton and leadership of Mr. Ng Chiu-Shing, the ensemble has grown from ten members to the current sixty, receiving numerous awards and recognition at competitions.
The list of awards include First and Third prizes at the 2009/2010 Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals; four consecutive Gold prizes at Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows; Second prize at the 2007 Young Folk Music Group Beijing Invitational; Gold prize at the 2011 Asia Pacific Chinese Music Exchange in Taiwan.
喇沙書院中樂團成立於二零零一年，樂團宗旨為培養同學對中國音樂的興趣，並提高演奏技巧，同時讓同學們體驗團隊合作精神。樂團在吳朝勝老師指揮及領導下，由起初只有十人的合奏小組，發展至今已多達六十人的樂隊，並在多次公開比賽中得到驕人的成績，甚獲好評。
樂團分別於二零零九及二零一零年香港校際音樂節中樂大合奏中奪得冠軍及季軍，亦於香港青年音樂匯演中樂團比賽中連續四屆奪得金獎。二零零七年八月，樂團遠赴北京參加第四屆青少年民樂團隊北京邀請賽，榮獲月光獎，得到各界高度的讚賞。二零一一年四月初，樂團更遠赴台灣參與《2011亞太華樂交流觀摩賽》，亦獲得金獎的佳績。
Chiu-Shing Ng – Conductor
Mr. Ng was born in Hong Kong. He is a successful composer, conductor, performer, and educator. For over thirty years, he has been very active in promoting Chinese music to the public, primarily in training young musicians and composing new pieces.
Mr. Ng has organized and conducted many concerts, and made great contributions in promoting the music culture in Hong Kong. Mr. Ng is currently the music director and conductor of the Hong Kong Juvenile & Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra, vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Chinese Musicians, committee member of the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association, examiner at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, artistic director of the Hong Kong Pipa Ensemble, principal advisor of the Standard Grade Examination Committee of the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music (Hong Kong), advisor of the Tai Cong Rongwen Art School Chinese Orchestra, executive member of the Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong, member of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, member of the Composer & Author Society of Hong Kong, and lecturer at the Hong Kong Music Institute. He is listed in the Dictionary of Chinese Musicians.
吳朝勝 指揮
香港出生，集作曲、指揮、演奏、教育於一身的年青音樂家，活躍於本港樂壇超過三十年，積極推動、普及繁榮本港音樂文化，並致力發表新作，培養國樂新秀。
多年來，吳氏積極地策劃、統籌及指揮多場大型音樂會，一直為推動香港音樂文化而努力。吳氏現為香港青少年國樂團總監兼指揮；香港中國音樂家協會副主席；香港學校音樂及朗誦協會執行委員；香港藝術發展局審批員；香港琵琶藝術團藝術總監；北京中央音樂學院考級委員會香港考區首席聯絡員；加拿大愛城民樂團顧問；江蘇省太倉市榮文藝術學校民樂團藝術顧問；香港中華文化總會常務理事；中國民族管弦樂學會會員；香港作曲家及作詞家協會會員；香港音樂專科學校講師。其簡歷刊於中國音樂家辭典中。
