Rena Yung has been a percussionist for the Toronto Chinese Orchestra since 2018. Rena has always been surrounded by music, and has been trained in classical piano for 15 years. She first developed an interest in Chinese music when she collaborated with a pipa player, forming a pipa-piano duo in 2015. Through this experience, she discovered an interest in preserving and spreading music from her cultural background to the western musical society in which she grew up in. Rena graduated with a Bachelor of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2018. She is currently teaching piano and hopes to find opportunities to use her musical skills in helping people around the community. During her free time, she enjoys baking and spending time with her family and friends.
